Objective:
To brand the A1001 space, encompassing Dental, Massage, and Occupational Therapy within the college. We were to create a unified design element that ties together all areas within A1001 the met the needs of the target audience which is patients of all ages, students and faculty. We were also to create and prototype a cohesive web design including our new logos and design elements for the overall Oral Health and Wellness Clinic.
Process:Upon doing research of different health sciences branding and wayfinding, I was inspired by cool colours including greens, blues and purples to create a calming environment for patients, students, and faculty. I was also inspired by large organic shapes and arrows to help users navigate through the space. I created three logos, one for the mend massage clinic, one for the revive & thrive occupational therapy and physiotherapy clinic, and one for the smile studios oral health clinic. I used organic lines to create a lotus for mend, a person for revive & thrive, and a tooth for smile studios. For the exterior, I created a welcome sign combining elements from each logo and the title oral health and wellness clinics. In addition to this, I created wave patterns on the windows to block visibility into the clinics yet still allow light in through the top. I used the organic wave shapes throughout the spaces to simulate a relaxing environment. The logos would also be shown on the exterior windows closer to the door to indicate to patients where to go. When it came to the A1001 Lobby, I wanted the space to feel inviting and cohesive. I kept the same wave patterns going, this time covering the walls where the trophy case is and the windows into the reception for added privacy. The combined logos and clinic name are above the clinic entrance door as well as on the wall directly across from the building entrance door so that patients, staff and faculty know where they are going. I created a statement piece for the reception and waiting room area. The wave pattern with various shades of blue wraps around the three walls separating the spaces. The logos and arrows help direct users through the space. Surrounding the reception desks would be a wave in the secondary cream colour with the colour logos on each respective desk so that patients know where to check in for their appointments. On the wall in the dental waiting area and the wall opposite the entrance to the massage and physiotherapy clinics would be bubbles with the logo elements inside them. This ties into the wave vibe as well as adds variety in terms of shapes used. For the web concepts, I used the same blue colours for a cohesive look and included a contrasting colour, yellow, for CTA & buttons.
